AASIA LEWIS
BIOGRAPHy

aasia is a yoga educator, somatic coach, and clinical speech-language pathologist. She pursued her graduate studies in New York, where she serendipitously discovered a unique blend of the Ashtanga and Iyengar yoga lineages at Kula Yoga Project, where she completed her 200-hour Hatha and Vinyasa Yoga teacher training.
She lived in New York for over a decade. Following a personal transition in 2022, she left the city and embarked on the “alchemical journey” of the Camino de Santiago, finding herself across the globe—in Peru, Morocco, Spain (including the crossing from Tarifa to Tangier, for those who know 😉), Japan, the Netherlands, Italy, Portugal, France, Scotland, and Croatia. It’s safe to say her thirst for discovery has been well nourished, and during occasional returns, she can often be found teaching at yoga retreats in Morocco and Croatia.
Today, as the journey comes full circle and she has established her home in Montreal, just two hours from her hometown, Aasia hopes to share a unique synthesis of the experiences she has witnessed, felt, and embodied throughout her travels. Her teaching is enriched by ongoing studies in social awareness, body mapping, emotional anatomy, nonviolent communication, Chinese medicine, Organic Intelligence®, and somatic practices.
The evolution of her practice and teaching is rooted in the foundations of physical alignment while intentionally integrating the biological, social, and psychological layers of our being.

DHYANA in Asana ~ Series 8 Limbs in Action ~
Sunday, September 20 at 2 PM

As the 6th part of the series ‘8-Limbs in Action,’ ‘Dhyana in Asana’ examines Dhyana, also known as ‘meditation.’ We will attempt to feel the steady, uninterrupted flow of concentration through a more gentle asana practice, and explore how our physical bodies interpret, experience, and metabolize these principles of observation and humility. Experienced learning is the key to transformation.
This 8-part series offers students the opportunity to discover the 8-limbed path of yoga through its most popular limb in the West: Asana. The asana practice, also known as the practice of postures, offers a playground to discover how the other 7-limbs, which are as significant and integral to the practice of yoga, can be contacted and over time, embodied to improve our relations and lives, both on and off the mat. As a reminder, this is a unique exploration of the 8-limbed path and is not meant to pollute or subvert the wisdom of each limb serving as separate (although interconnected) stages of the yogic journey.
Each part of the series will explore a specific limb within the context of an asana practice. This includes: Yama in Asana, Niyama in Asana, Pranayama in Asana, Pratyahara in Asana, Dharana in Asana, Dhyana in Asana, and Samadhi in Asana. Classes will begin with a brief education and discussion on the respective limb, transition into a moderate asana practice, and complete with a brief sitting practice to allow for conscientious integration.
Event included with our PASSPORTS.
